Inspection Scheduling & Requirements

Inspections are required for all permits that are issued. The type and number of inspections required depends on the type of work that is being done. 

Scheduling Inspections

All building Inspections must be scheduled online using eTrakit.  

Daily Inspections

Morning Inspection requests are between the hours of 8:30am and 12:00pm. 

Afternoon Inspection requests are between the hours of 12:30pm and 3:30pm. 

The inspector will NOT call the day of the scheduled inspection to provide a time window for your inspection.

To schedule a Stormwater/Engineering inspection, if applicable to your project:

If your project requires any onsite grading and drainage improvements, you must schedule an inspection with the engineering department directly. Inspections can be scheduled by calling 650-947-2780

To Schedule a Fire Inspection, if applicable to your project: 

Fire Inspections can be scheduled by calling Santa Clara County Fire Prevention (408) 378-4010

Residential construction hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Commercial construction hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Construction is not permitted on Sunday or City observed holidays.
