El Camino Road Closure Continues Due to Commercial Fire Clean Up

Los Altos, Calif. — January 1, 2024 — The eastbound section of El Camino Real between San Antonio Road and Sherwood Avenue will continue to remain closed for the next two-to-three weeks due to the three-alarm fire that destroyed the commercial building at 4600 El Camino Real early Christmas morning (Monday, December 25).

Drivers are urged to follow detour signage and cautioned to allow extra time while driving in the area. Detour signs are in place for the following:

  • Eastbound El Camino Real traffic to turn left onto San Antonio Road, right on California Street, right on Showers Drive, and left on El Camino Real
  • Northbound San Antonio Road traffic to turn right onto Sherwood Avenue and right onto El Camino Real
  • Southbound San Antonio Road traffic to turn left onto Sherwood Avenue and right onto El Camino Real

The demolition work is projected to take two-to-three weeks; the road closure will remain in effect during this time. Updates on the road closure will be issued as they become available.

The City and Santa Clara County Fire are working diligently with the property owner to ensure that the work is completed swiftly while maintaining the safety of all those involved.
