Los Altos, Calif. — October 1, 2024 — On Saturday, September 28, between 1:30-2 PM, three male suspects gained entry into an occupied home in the 700 block of Covington Road by smashing a rear glass door. The suspects were scared away by the occupants and fled the scene without taking any items. The home’s occupants were unharmed.

Los Altos, Calif. — October 1, 2024 — On Saturday, September 28, between 1:30-2 PM, three male suspects gained entry into an occupied home in the 700 block of Covington Road by smashing a rear glass door. The suspects were scared away by the occupants and fled the scene without taking any items. The home’s occupants were unharmed. The suspects were seen driving a newer model gray Dodge Durango with tinted windows and no license plates; the windshield on the passenger side is marked with identifying items.

Los Altos, Calif. — September 17, 2024 — The Los Altos Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in an assault with a deadly weapon on an 89-year-old male Los Altos resident that took place yesterday, Monday, September 16, sometime in the late morning or early afternoon. Community members who live or were driving and witnessed anything that appeared to be out of the ordinary in the area of Foothill Expressway between Homestead Road and Cristo Rey Drive are asked to view their security camera footage from 11:30 AM-4 PM.

Updated — August 23, 2024 — The city of Los Altos is nearing completion of the annual street resurfacing overlay project. 

To facilitate the safe and efficient application of the slurry seal, the remaining street segments will be closed to through traffic* and parking from 8 AM-5 PM. Affected residents will receive a 72-hour notice detailing the specific no-parking period for their street. Please note that any vehicles or trailers parked within the designated construction zones during these hours will be towed.

On October 8, 2024, the City Council reviewed feedback received from the community and provided direction to the City's demographer on a draft map. The Council directed the demographer to prepare two versions of previously considered draft maps for consideration at a future public hearing.
