Los Altos City Council Hires Interim City Manager

Los Altos, Calif. – April 28, 2016 – The Los Altos City Council has selected Chris Jordan to be the Interim City Manager. 

Los Altos Mayor Jeannie Bruins and the Los Altos City Council approved the hiring of Jordan during its April 26, 2016 meeting. Jordan will replace outgoing City Manager Marcia Somers who announced her resignation April 1, 2016.

“We are delighted to bring Chris on board as Interim City Manager. He brings a wealth of experience that will serve us well while the City Council engages in an extensive search process for a permanent City Manager,” said Bruins. “It is imperative that service to our community and progress on our priorities proceed without interruption during this period.”

Jordan comes to Los Altos after serving 10 years as the City Manager of West Linn, Oregon. In West Linn, Jordan managed an organization similar in size to Los Altos with 125 employees and a biennial budget of approximately $100 million. 

Prior to his time in West Linn, Jordan worked for the City of Lake Oswego, Oregon for 10 years, the last five as the Assistant City Manager. Jordan also served as the Interim City Manager of Oregon City for 6 months in 1999. Prior to his time in municipal government, Jordan worked for the Federal Government’s Office of Management and Budget in Washington, DC.

Jordan’s contract with the City of Los Altos is for the term of April 27, 2016 through September 30, 2016 or until a permanent City Manager is selected. 

Marcia Somers leaves Los Altos at the end of April after serving as City Manager since April 2012.
