Current Status

On November 28, 2017, City Council adopted an interim urgency ordinance prohibiting all medical and adult-use commercial cannabis uses to provide adequate time to prepare and adopt permanent zoning regulations related to medical and non-medical/adult-use commercial cannabis uses. In January of this year, Council extended the existing moratorium through November 27, 2018.

Explored as a potential revenue measure, City Council declined to take action to create a cannabis tax at its meeting on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. However, at this meeting, Council provided guidance and input on a future ordinance to prohibit the operation of commercial marijuana businesses while still allowing for delivery within city limits. It is anticipated Council will consider a permanent ordinance at a later date.
