Los Altos Recognized for Excellence in Budgeting
Los Altos, Calif. – January 31, 2020 – The City was recently presented the Excellence in Operating Budget award from the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers.
This award highlights the commitment of the City in preparing a budget that displays the highest standards of innovative, transparent budget procedures. In order to receive the award, the City’s budget had to satisfy state and nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation passing more than 45 varied criteria.
“This is a significant achievement for the City of Los Altos,” said Director of Administrative Services Sharif Etman, who supervises the Finance Department. “It illustrates the tremendous dedication and focus our team has devoted in preparing a budget document that serves our elected officials and the public.”
The California Society of Municipal Finance Officer (CSMFO) promotes excellence in financial management through innovation, continuing education and the professional development of our members. The City has been honored previously by the Government Finance Officers Association, receiving 15 Financial Reporting awards. This is the first time the City has been recognized by the CSMFO for Excellence in Operating Budget.
