When are City vendor payments made?
The City processes vendor payments every two weeks on a bi-monthly basis. Payment terms with the City are generally net 30 days. Defining key department contacts and purchase order numbers assist in ensuring timely payments. Vendor payment questions can be directed to Accounts Payable at (650) 947-2761.

Do new vendors need to submit any forms or paperwork?
All vendors must fill out a W9 form and submit it via email to AP@losaltosca.gov or via fax to (650) 947 2735.

What is the City Hotel Tax rate (TOT)?
The current City Hotel Tax rate (TOT) is 14%. Download the Transient Occupancy Tax Return Form and submit to the City of Los Altos Finance Department.

What is the City Tax ID number?
The City’s Federal Tax ID # is 94-6004056.

What is the City Utility Users Tax rate (UUT)?
The current City Utility Users Tax rate (UUT) is 3.5% for Electricity, Gas and Water, 3.2% for Wired and Wireless Telecom and Video/CATV and 2.5% for Prepaid Wireless . Download the Utility Users Tax Remittance Form and submit to the City of Los Altos Finance Department.

Am I qualified for a Utility Users Tax (UUT) Senior Exemption?
There are age and income requirements that need to be met in order to qualify for the exemption. Complete the Utility User Tax Exemption form and call (650) 947-2614 to schedule an appointment.

Does the City receive all of my property tax?
The City of Los Altos receives approximately 12 cents on the dollar for all property taxes paid. The remaining funds are shared and distributed to a variety of County agencies and external county agency assessments including school districts, community colleges, open space & water districts.

Does the City receive all of my sales tax?
It is a common misconception that the City receives all retail sales tax paid by residents. Los Altos receives approximately 15 cents on the dollar for all sales tax transactions. This is an important tax revenue source that is both shared and fragile. The remaining portion of sales tax goes to the State and other agencies.
