Los Altos Recreation Volunteer Recognized by Statewide Society

Los Altos, Calif. – March 10, 2020 – The City of Los Altos is honored to announce Adela Di Canio recently received the Volunteer and Sponsor Citation Award from District 4 of the California Park and Recreation Society.

On February 27, Mrs. Di Canio was recognized for her acts of volunteerism at the California Park and Recreation Society D-4 Annual Awards that took place at the Mountain View Community Center.

Nominated by Los Altos Recreation and Community Services, this award recognizes an individual’s outstanding voluntary contributions to recreation, parks, and human services programs that exponentially improve services and promote “creating community through people, parks, and programs.”

Mrs. Di Canio has served as a volunteer for the City of Los Altos for more than fifteen years. She dedicates her time to the Senior Program where she chaperons senior trips, participates in senior gardening, schedules AARP tax appointments, organizes special events, and prepares bookkeeping for rideshares. Somehow, she still finds time to decorate the office, bringing cheer to everyone.

“She is the epitome of an outstanding volunteer and person,” explains Bridget Matheson, Los Altos Recreation Supervisor. “We can never thank her enough for the time and effort she has devoted to the Los Altos community.”

Mrs. Di Canio has received multiple municipal volunteer program awards, including the Alice Semple Award for outstanding service to the City of Los Altos.

The City of Los Altos extends its warm congratulations to Mrs. Di Canio for this well-deserved award and values the time she has dedicated to making our community a better place.
