Los Altos Launches Virtual Summer Programs

Los Altos, Calif. – June 22, 2020 – The City of Los Altos is expanding its Virtual Recreation Center to offer virtual programs.

Since the cancellation of in-person Recreation summer offerings, City staff are launching the Virtual Summer Clubhouse while offering recreation programs and classes taught by various external organizations and instructors. Registration begins today, June 22, while Clubhouse sessions start July 1 through August 28, 2020.

“Over the last month, the Recreation staff have been hard at work to create safe, virtual options for the entire community," said Donna Legge, Director of Recreation and Community Services. “Understanding the unpredictability of the coronavirus pandemic, we strive to offer creative programs and classes for residents to stay active mentally and physically.”

The Virtual Summer Clubhouse will be hosted by City Recreation Leaders, for children (ages 3 to 11 years) to participate in engaging, themed activities offered in a small group setting. Additionally, there are various sports, music, and arts-related programs and classes for children and adults. To view a full list of summer activities, please visit www.losaltosrecreation.org.

City staff are continuously exploring additional opportunities for the summer season while assessing the community's projected needs. We urge residents to share suggestions for digital classes or events through the City’s on-line Virtual Recreation Center survey.
