Los Altos City Council Approves a Non-Profit and Civic Organization Contributions Policy

Los Altos, Calif. — October 14, 2022 — The Los Altos City Council voted Tuesday night (Oct. 11) to approve a non-profit and civic organization contributions policy that establishes the requirements, formal application, and annual process for organizations interested in requesting funding contributions from the City Council. The fiscal year 23/24 application process is anticipated to be available before the end of October on the City’s website.

This policy will allow Council to evaluate all discretionary funding requests during the annual fiscal year budget process, thereby increasing budget transparency and ensuring the City meets its non-discretionary obligations.

All non-profit and civic organizations interested in funding will be required to submit an application that details the use of requested funds and the benefit those funds will bring to the Los Altos community. Once an application is submitted and reviewed by City staff, the Council will make final approval based on established Council priorities and funding constraints.

Recipients will be required to submit an annual report that includes a record of the use of City funds and details of the organization’s impact on the community.
