Each year, it is necessary to refresh the roadway striping and markers throughout the City.  Visibility of pavement markings is important to preventing traffic accidents. This project provides for striping approximately 15% of the City streets with thermoplastic pavement striping each year.

Thermoplastic lasts for approximately seven to eight years before it needs to be refreshed.  Therefore, this project allows the City to complete a complete striping cycle on an eight-year basis in accordance with requirements and to maintain the acceptable conditions.

Status Updates

Tuesday, December 9, 2014: Contractors will resume work to install permanent street striping, markings and signs on the unfinished road segments listed under the December 4 updates below. Work is anticipated to be complete by the end of this week, dependent on weather. Visit this webpage for ongoing updates.

Friday, December 5, 2014: Due to weather conditions, work scheduled on Saturday, December 6, is canceled. Please check back at a later time for new project schedule.

Thursday, December 4, 2014: Contractors will be installing permanent street striping and markings this Saturday, December 6 beginning at 7:00 a.m. on the streets noted below. While residential construction hours on Saturdays are typically not allowed to begin until 9:00 a.m., due to delays caused by the recent rain and projections of continued rainy weather, work is being allowed in order to complete the project in a timely manner. The City’s Engineering Inspector will be onsite with contractors to gauge the noise level and if determined to be a nuisance, will delay the project start time until 9:00 a.m.

Due to the weather, the project schedule must remain flexible and is subject to further changes, as thermoplastic street striping must be applied when the street surface is dry. Residents in the impacted areas are encouraged to check this page often for updates.
