Annual Storm Drain Improvements
An important element of the Los Altos infrastructure is the network of storm water conveyance facilities that deliver storm water runoff to the four creeks (Adobe Creek, Hale Creek, Permanente Creek, and Stevens Creek) in Los Altos which terminate at San Francisco Bay. These facilities include curbs and gutters, drainage swales, drain inlets and catch basins, underground pipes ranging from 12 inches to 66 inches in diameter, manholes and outfalls at the creeks.
This project provides for rehabilitation or replacement of existing infrastructure, installation of new infrastructure, and professional services as they relate to special studies or reports needed to remain in compliance with the San Francisco Municipal Regional Permit (MRP) under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.
Completed activities include:
- Installation of 11 full trash capture devices along El Camino Real
- Windimer Ditch construction
- Preparation and adoption of Los Altos Green Stormwater Infrastructure Plan
Current activities include:
- Ongoing maintenance of 11 full trash capture devices along El Camino Real
- Milverton Road Storm Drain Improvements Project (deferred by City Council to a later date to be determined)
