The Public Outdoor Sculpture Loan program is the primary focus of the Public Arts Commission. Many of the sculptures that are part of the Public Sculpture program either are or once were part of the Loan program.
Pieces are loaned to the City for a period of two years, and upon conclusion of the loan period, pieces are either removed by the artist or loaned for another two years. On occasion, the pieces are donated to the City by either the artist or a third-party who purchases the piece for the City.

The Mission of the Public Arts Commission is to advise the City Council on incorporating public art that improves the aesthetic quality of public spaces and makes the City of Los Altos a unique and vibrant community.
