Disadvantages

Parking is permitted, forcing the bicyclists to move into the travel lane to get around a parked car.

City staff evaluates the need for a bike route marking based on bicycle usage and impacts to the roadway.
Design/Installation Considerations

Requires a smooth surface that has been provided along the edge of a roadway, typically with a 4 inch solid white line separating the biking area from the roadway. On-street parking is allowed in the lane.
