The Los Altos Festival of Lights Parade

The holiday season in Los Altos officially begins on the Sunday following Thanksgiving with the annual Festival of Lights Parade. Generations of Los Altans line Main and State Streets to watch the fantasy unfold. Colorful floats and costumed storybook characters, illuminated with thousands of tiny lights, join marching bands and clowns to welcome the arrival of Santa Claus' sleigh and reindeer.
Originating in 1978, the Festival of Lights Parade Association is made up of merchant and community volunteers. Annual fundraising events, such as the '50s street dance "Rock Back the Clock" at Rancho Shopping Center and the "Antique and

Collectibles Fair", both held in September, help to cover the cost of staging this exciting parade.
