Planning Commission

[ Agendas & Minutes ]

The Planning Commission advises the City Council on matters relating to land use and land development in Los Altos. This includes the development and implementation of the General Plan, Zoning Ordinances, and other land use regulations, and recommendations on development applications.

Planning Commissioners are appointed by the City Council for a four year term. The Commission is a voluntary position whose responsibility it is to weigh all factors on an issue by familiarizing themselves with the application, visiting the site, reading the staff report, listening to all public comment and making recommendations based on our City Codes for the good of the overall community.

It reviews all subdivision plans, plans for architectural and site improvements of new non-residential buildings and proposed amendments and/or exceptions to the Zoning Ordinance, and formulates recommendations to the City Council.

The Planning Commission meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:30 PM in the Community Meeting Chambers, Los Altos City Hall, One North San Antonio Road.
