Historic Resources Inventory
The history and architecture of over one hundred homes and business buildings are described and illustrated in this inventory, which can be viewed at Los Altos City Hall. This project was made possible by a grant from the California State Office of Historic Preservation. A sample entry is shown below:

Architectural description:
This two-story structure is wood-frame and sheathed in stucco. It is simple in design with raised parapet around the roofline perimeter. Windows are symmetrically placed with two at the facade upper level and four across the east elevation The first floor facade and east elevations have been modernized and the original diagonal entrance has been centrally located at the facade. Large plate glass windows with pilasters dominate the first floor exterior view. An awning spans the facade and a portion of the east side; small awnings are placed above each second level window.

History:
This structure was built between 1909-1910, financed by Paul Shoup at a cost of $4,000. Robinson's Grocery was located on the first floor, and the Los Altos Grammar School first occupied the second floor until 1911. Later Boy Scouts and church groups used the second floor space. A. S. Robinson was the husband of Faith Shoup, sister of Paul Shoup; the building is a locally designated landmark.
